Meet the Instructor
Hi there! I'm Nicolas Viau, a professional artist who's been working in the industry since 2021. I created this company because I've consistently excelled at getting hired and monetizing my artwork. Now, I've created my own path and made a way for creatives to get careers in the industry they love: art. As creatives, it’s easier to make artwork than to sell it. Let me show you how.

“Nic is not only an incredible teacher, his enthusiasm and dedication also inspire his students in an extraordinary way. His patience and understanding made me feel like he was genuinely interested in my progress.”
Keith
“The small class size allows students a lot of personal attention. The shifting subjects (while still following the theme of the course) provide lessons on differing aspects of drawing each week, which keeps things challenging and fun. Nic is a great teacher, and I'm looking forward to Still Life II.”
Naomi
“Nic's ability to take difficult studies (like perspective) and break them down so they're easy to understand gives me the confidence to tackle subjects that I wouldn't dare try on my own! It's definitely encouraged me to go beyond my comfort zone with zero pressure and has helped me find my own personal style preferences.”
Susan
“I was able to figure out what direction I wanted to take with my work and portfolio thanks to Nic's advice and guidance. Highly recommend.”

After graduating from high school, I finished a diploma in Illustration and Concept Art, a post-graduate diploma in Visual Development and Entertainment, and multiple university-level classes in graphic design and kinesiology. During my education, I worked throughout it in the industry, working as an artist for AAA and indie studios on video games, board games, movies and TV shows. Now, I work as an art teacher and freelance artist here in Ottawa while running my own business.

Who I am
-
I believe in keeping things simple, smart, and human. Every class starts with listening to your goals and ends with something you're proud to have learned.
-
I believe human-made art is an amazing skill to master. Demonstrate effort, respect, and passion in your work. No one’s a bigger critic than you are of yourself. Be kind, you’re learning.

What began as a suggestion from a friend has evolved into something more. I’ve been a professional artist and teacher for many years, but this is special to me. I’m even more excited for what’s ahead. What sets me apart isn’t just my process—it’s the individual care you’ll get.
